Background:

I have recently moved from Victoria to Kalgoorlie so that my partner and I can live together full time rather than him working in a FIFO arrangement. After arriving in Kalgoorlie, it was a natural progression for me to find a room with reception facilities so that I could continue my private practice.

I am a Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years of experience and almost 15 years in private practice. I have a strong background in Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) including EAP coordination, trauma management and critical incident response work as well as previously holding a permanent onsite role for a large mining company in Western Australia.

As a Counselling Psychologist, I am dedicated to helping clients achieve mental and emotional health by addressing both personal and work-related issues. I work with young people, adults and couples.

My treatment approach is based on recognising the strengths and resources of people at all levels of psychological functioning, and working collaboratively with the client to achieve meaningful change. I draw on a wide variety of techniques and therapeutic interventions targeting the specific needs and circumstances of each client.

My therapeutic goals generally include providing psychoeducation, enhancing self-awareness and mindfulness, as well as providing strategies for self-management.

I can be viewed as using an eclectic and intuitive approach drawing on a wide range of therapies. These include Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I also use relaxation and visualisation techniques in my sessions to assist in general psychotherapy.

I work with most mental and emotional health issues including life stage transitioning, stress & burnout, Loss & Grief, trauma & abuse, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, lack of self-esteem and confidence, addictions and substance abuse, and other mental health disorders.

I provide couples counselling to assist couples with managing conflict, improving their communication, developing healthy parenting skills, dealing with separation and divorce and building satisfying and fulfilling relationships.

I can assist employees and managers to deal with work related issues, such as workplace trauma, work related conflict, debriefings, critical incident response and trauma management, conflict resolution and mediation, as well as management of staff issues.

On a more personal level, I like to keep fit by walking my dogs every morning, going to the gym and going for the occasional bike ride. I love the Australian outback and find Kalgoorlie a very interesting place to live. I feel I have settled in well and look forward to exploring more of what Western Australia has to offer.
